This week I was waiting for a coffee in a famous coffee place, one conversation attract my attention three who seams to be software developers and a sales executive were talking about their job. I had the opportunity to wait a long time for my coffee so I could hear more about it;
The arguments between these team members were because of the lack of independency that they have to negotiate with their stakeholders they were having a rough time because their manager had a different point of view about the project scope and estimated effort.
On this occasion, let's think about why these professionals can´t work directly with the stakeholders, in many occasions this interaction it's cut out or restricted by the management and this is one of the biggest challenges that Agile and Transformation methods face when implementation takes place the self-organization or autonomy level its something that most of the company's or enterprises don't have in mind when they decided to move forward with agile methods and is a cornerstone to develop all the agile principles with the right self-organization, and autonomy between squads the proper motivation and strategy-oriented those can make the most impressive work and enormous value increment in an amazing time to market.
The challenge is not for all companies, there has to be ready to cut off their micromanagement, Let the people take responsibility for their actions, and reduce the number of Heads and Directors to empower teamwork even if their management level doesn't know how to delegate work and trust in their team. To generate the environment for the agile transition they must work with soft skills to improve their skills of leadership, motivational skills, and empathy with their coworkers; one of my top recommend skills that every manager has to learn is to respect and trust their team,(a very personal characteristic that we will discuss on the future article is the ego and how works negatively to any company).
To grow your business you will need to evaluate your principles as a company, as a Direction, or field of work because the change of the set of mind must happen to see the real benefits to implement agile, Management more focus on the people the clients as well the workers in your company the independence and self-organization its one of the core principles that agile proposes even other methods of work and theories give the advantages such as the responsibility of the team members, commitment, improves the work environment, quick response to risk and issues, generate the right environment to grow to your professionals and test your management team as a leader.
When you work with professionals they are responsible, and they tend to archive their commitments instead of making micromanagement, focus on giving them challenges, and more important try to communicate the business objectives clearly in this way your team will have more information to take action and help you to archive goals and avoid risk and issues.
